Christie: Current Polls ‘Just Shooting in the Dark’

Chris Christie expressed his determination to continue his presidential campaign, dismissing current polls suggesting former President Donald Trump’s lead in the Republican nomination as speculative and uncertain.

Christie emphasized the uniqueness of this race, particularly highlighting the legal challenges Trump faces. He pointed out that on the eve of Super Tuesday, Trump will be starting a criminal trial with significant allegations against him. Christie noted that Trump’s former chief of staff and a co-founder of the Freedom Caucus is expected to testify against Trump, asserting his involvement in criminal activities.

The former governor of New Jersey also questioned the reliability of early polling in presidential races, citing historical inaccuracies. He referenced the 2016 presidential election, suggesting that if polls were always accurate, Hillary Clinton would have been re-elected. Christie argued that people might not always be truthful with pollsters, making current predictions about the race potentially misleading.

Christie stated that the focus should be on the country’s direction, which he believes many people disagree with. He questioned why voters would support either Trump or President Joe Biden, given their roles in shaping the country’s current path, emphasizing the need for a change in leadership.
