Ex-FBI Officials Warn of ‘Soft Invasion’ at Border

In a letter addressed to congressional leaders, a group of 10 former FBI directors and experts in counterintelligence expressed serious concerns about the Biden administration’s border policies. They warned that these policies have facilitated a “soft invasion” of the United States at the Mexico border, predominantly by young men of military age.

The letter from these FBI officials highlighted that for the first time in modern U.S. history, the country is experiencing an invasion of foreign nationals, many from regions hostile to the United States. These individuals are entering the U.S. in large numbers, crossing a border that is perceived globally as inadequately protected.

The potential risks posed by the influx of young, single males from adversarial nations and regions are significant, according to these officials. Their background, intentions, and loyalties remain largely unknown. This group includes individuals encountered and potentially released by border officials, as well as a high number of ‘gotaways’ who have successfully evaded capture.

The Center Square reported that since President Joe Biden’s inauguration, over 10 million undocumented immigrants have entered the U.S., including an estimated 1.7 million ‘gotaways.’

The letter stressed the compromised national security due to this substantial, uninvited foreign presence. Traditional protective measures, including military defenses, laws, and natural barriers, have been effectively bypassed in recent years.

The authors noted a demographic shift at the southern border starting in 2021, with an increase in young, solo-traveling men from diverse global regions, raising concerns about their motives.

They linked the presence of these individuals to the increased risk of terror attacks, citing the example of a Hamas attack on Israel and the potential for similar actions by other terror groups. The letter urged Congress to secure the borders against this threat and to identify and remove those who are in the country illegally.

The officials warned of the real possibility of attacks within U.S. borders by these young men, potentially influenced by foreign terror groups. They emphasized the urgency of addressing this threat, highlighting the “blinking warning lights.”

The letter was sent to key congressional figures, including House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), and the chairs of the House Homeland Security Committee and Senate Intelligence Committee.
