FAA Probes Wing Issue That Prompted United Flight Detour

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced on Tuesday that it has launched an investigation into the diversion of a United Airlines Boeing 757-200 aircraft following reports from the crew regarding a wing issue.

United Airlines Flight 354 made a safe landing at Denver International Airport at approximately 5:15 p.m. on Monday, after the crew identified an issue with the slat on one of the wings during its journey from San Francisco to Boston Logan.

According to United Airlines, the flight was carrying 165 passengers at the time of the incident. The airline swiftly organized alternative arrangements, securing another aircraft to transport the passengers to their intended destination. The replacement flight successfully arrived in Boston later on Monday.

Boeing, the manufacturer of the aircraft, declined to provide any comments on the matter.

The FAA noted that the Boeing 757-200 involved in the incident was constructed in 1994. Production of the 757 model ceased in 2004, according to information from the FAA.
