Palestinian militants in the Gaza Strip launched more than 50 rockets into southern Israel on Tuesday, as confirmed by local authorities.
This barrage, one of the most significant in recent weeks, seemed to be aimed at the southern city of Netivot, triggering sirens in that area and nearby towns.
Videos circulating on social media displayed approximately two dozen interceptions by the Iron Dome air defense system.
Israeli media reported that one of the rockets hit a store in Netivot, while another struck a warehouse in the adjacent community of Givolim, causing some damage.
Fortunately, there were no immediate reports of injuries resulting from the rocket attacks.
The rate of rocket launches from Gaza has decreased notably due to the ongoing ground operation by the Israel Defense Forces in the Gaza Strip.
On the previous day, the Israeli military revealed that Palestinians in Gaza had launched around 9,000 rockets that reached Israeli territory. Furthermore, hundreds, if not thousands, of rockets fell short inside the Gaza Strip, as reported by the IDF.
The Israeli military also announced on Sunday that it had eliminated over 9,000 Palestinian militants in the Gaza Strip since the beginning of the conflict with Hamas. This data covers the period from October 7 to January 9.
Additionally, the IDF disclosed that it had taken out two of Hamas’ five brigade-level commanders. Furthermore, 19 battalion-level commanders and 50 company commanders were among those killed.
Before Israel initiated the war in response to Hamas’ terror attacks on the northwestern Negev region on October 7, resulting in the tragic loss of 1,200 lives, the terror organization was estimated to have around 30,000 fighters, according to the IDF.
Over the past three months, the Israeli military targeted approximately 30,000 terror-related sites in the coastal enclave. Ground forces also apprehended 2,300 terror suspects in the Gaza Strip for interrogation during this period.
