Giuliani: Gag Order Lawsuit ‘Un-American’

Rudy Giuliani, the former Mayor of New York, criticized a new federal lawsuit aiming to impose a permanent gag order on him, labeling it as “un-American.”

Giuliani appeared on “Rob Schmitt Tonight” to discuss the lawsuit initiated by Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss. This legal action comes shortly after Freeman and Moss secured a $148 million defamation victory against Giuliani.

Commenting on the lawsuit, Giuliani expressed his concerns: “That sounds kind of un-American, doesn’t it? That’s prior restraint.”

The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C., seeks a permanent injunction to stop Giuliani from continuing his alleged defamatory actions against the plaintiffs.

Giuliani, questioning the implications of such a lawsuit, said, “Are they actually gonna put a gag on me when I walk around?” He continued, stressing his understanding of the First Amendment and the right to free speech. Giuliani pointed out the leeway given in expressing opinions and engaging in discussions, especially when it involves public figures, as Freeman and Moss were public officials.
