Medvedev: Nuclear Strike on West If Russia Loses Territory

Dmitry Medvedev, a key ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin, cautioned that Moscow would not hesitate to use nuclear weapons against Western capitals, including Washington, if pressured to relinquish control over Ukrainian territory.

Medvedev, who holds a prominent position in Russia’s security council overseeing the conflict with Ukraine, asserted that any attempts to roll back Russia’s territorial gains to pre-1991 borders would inevitably escalate into a global conflict. He emphasized that Russia possesses the strategic arsenal necessary to strike major Western cities such as Kyiv, Berlin, London, and Washington.

Regarding the possibility of Russia resorting to nuclear warfare, Medvedev stated unequivocally that Russia’s leadership would not hesitate to take such drastic measures to protect the nation’s integrity and history. He warned against underestimating Russia’s resolve, insisting that the West should not assume that Russian leadership would shy away from employing nuclear capabilities if deemed necessary.

Formerly serving as Russia’s president from 2008 to 2012, Medvedev stressed the urgency of resolving the territorial dispute before it escalates further. He criticized Western figures, including British and German defense ministers Grant Shapps and Boris Pistorius, for their opposition to Putin’s administration. Medvedev condemned their stance as shortsighted and warned that their policies could lead to the collapse of modern Russia, including territories currently under Kremlin control in Ukraine.

Medvedev’s remarks underscore the escalating tensions surrounding the Ukrainian conflict and the potential consequences of international intervention in the region.
