Rasmussen Poll: Trump, DeSantis Each Beat Biden

In hypothetical 2024 election matchups, both former President Donald Trump and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis are leading President Joe Biden, according to a recent Rasmussen Reports survey. However, former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley trails Biden by two percentage points in another potential matchup.

In a scenario pitting Trump against Biden, the current GOP primary front-runner secures 49% support from likely voters, while the president receives 41%. Approximately 8% of respondents indicate they would vote for another candidate, and 2% remain undecided. Trump’s advantage primarily stems from his 26-point lead (54%-28%) among independent voters. Among party lines, Trump garners 79% support from Republicans, while Biden enjoys 77% backing from Democrats.

In a DeSantis vs. Biden election, 42% favor the Florida governor, while 41% support Biden. About 13% express a preference for another candidate, and 4% remain undecided.

The survey results show that in a hypothetical Haley vs. Biden matchup, Biden leads with 38% of likely voters supporting him, compared to 36% for Haley. Another 21% state they would vote for a different candidate, and 6% remain undecided.

In a DeSantis-Biden matchup, the governor earns the support of 68% of Republicans, 16% of Democrats, and 43% of unaffiliated voters. Meanwhile, Biden secures 74% of Democratic voters, 13% of Republicans, and 33% of unaffiliated voters.

In a Haley-Biden scenario, the former South Carolina governor receives 55% support from Republicans, 14% from Democrats, and 40% from unaffiliated voters. Biden garners 72% support among Democrats, 14% from Republicans, and 23% from unaffiliated voters. Notably, in a Biden-Haley matchup, 24% of Republicans and 26% of unaffiliated voters opt for another candidate.

Moreover, among those who would vote for Trump against Biden, 75% would also vote for DeSantis against Biden. However, only 53% of Trump voters would support Haley against Biden, with 34% favoring another candidate.

When examining women voters, Biden leads by five points against Trump, DeSantis, or Haley. Trump, however, secures the highest percentage (49%) of women voters, while also winning men by a 49% to 39% margin against Biden.

DeSantis leads men by a seven-point margin against Biden, but the president attracts 44% of women voters, compared to the governor’s 37%.

Interestingly, Haley receives the lowest percentage (30%) of women voters but outperforms Biden among men, garnering 42% support to Biden’s 35%.

The survey was conducted by Rasmussen Reports through national telephone and online methods from January 7 to January 9, involving 968 likely voters.
