As an anesthesiologist and member of the GOP Doctors Caucus, Harris expressed concern that Biden’s mental state will become increasingly apparent as the 2024 presidential campaign progresses. With both Biden and former President Donald Trump emerging as front-runners for their respective parties in a potential general election rematch, Harris highlighted the urgent need for transparency regarding Biden’s cognitive abilities.
“There is no way he [Biden] gets through another four years without it becoming very apparent he can’t make the decisions you need a president to make,” Harris asserted during an interview with host Jon Glasgow on “Sunday Report.”
Harris pointed out that Biden’s cognitive challenges would have been evident even four years ago if he hadn’t been kept secluded during the campaign. He emphasized that the recent report from special counsel Robert Hur, which highlighted Biden’s mishandling of classified documents, only adds to the concerns about his cognitive fitness.
Moreover, Harris suggested that Democratic leaders, including former Presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, are likely considering replacing Biden on the party’s national ticket due to these concerns.
“They’re very, very concerned about it,” Harris remarked, referring to Democrats’ apprehensions about Biden’s cognitive state. “That’s why they were so concerned about the Hur report. It just confirmed what people saw with their own eyes.”
Harris speculated that Democrats would aim to replace Biden before the August convention to avoid introducing a new candidate to the American people with less than three months before the election.
Regarding Biden’s upcoming State of the Union address on March 7, Harris predicted that Biden would manage to navigate through it without major issues as long as he sticks to the teleprompter. However, Harris expressed concern about Biden’s ability to make crucial decisions, especially in critical situations where he cannot rely on a teleprompter.
“When he has to make a major decision, again, God forbid, you know a wartime decision, there’s no teleprompter there to help him,” Harris cautioned.
