Rep. Biggs: Biden Cannot Be Truthful on Economy

President Joe Biden addressed concerns about rising consumer prices during a campaign event in New Hampshire on Monday, emphasizing his efforts to alleviate financial burdens for Americans. Since assuming office, there has been a significant 17.9% increase in consumer prices, prompting discussions on the state of the economy under his administration.

In response to Biden’s assertions, Rep. Andy Biggs of Arizona expressed skepticism, suggesting that the president’s portrayal of the economy may not fully align with reality. Biggs highlighted Biden’s recent State of the Union address, where the president spoke positively about the economy, juxtaposed with a report released by the federal government on the same day indicating a substantial increase in layoffs, reaching the highest number in 15 years for the month of February.

Referring to a report by job transition specialists Challenger, Gray & Christmas, Biggs noted that U.S.-based employers cut 84,638 jobs in February, marking a notable increase compared to the previous year and the highest monthly figure since February 2009.

Biggs emphasized the tangible impact of economic challenges on everyday life, citing personal experiences such as the rising cost of gasoline and grocery items like hamburger meat. He underscored the significance of these financial concerns for American households, suggesting that attempts to downplay these issues through rhetoric would not resonate with the public.

In Biggs’ view, the current administration is facing notable failures in addressing key issues, particularly concerning the economy and immigration. He criticized the handling of these matters, suggesting a disconnect between policymakers and the realities faced by ordinary citizens.
