Rep. Gimenez: Biden Has ‘No Plan’ to Rescue Americans in Haiti Chaos

The Biden administration has not devised a strategy to evacuate individuals from the escalating gang conflicts and turmoil in Haiti. This is in contrast to Florida’s Republican Governor Ron DeSantis, who organized a rescue flight to the troubled Caribbean nation, as reported by Representative Carlos Gimenez.

During an appearance on “Wake Up America,” Gimenez criticized the ongoing crisis at the U.S. southern border, attributing it to deliberate inaction by the current administration and accusing it of intentional negligence.

Gimenez commended Governor DeSantis for his proactive measures to safeguard residents of Florida, highlighting DeSantis’s decision to send a rescue mission to Haiti and deploy over 100 officers from Florida’s Fish and Wildlife Commission and other departments to bolster border security. He noted the Coast Guard’s limited capacity in the region, prompting the governor to intervene to prevent a potential influx of Haitian migrants into Florida.

Gimenez mentioned that DeSantis’s initiative successfully evacuated 14 individuals from Haiti, contrasting with the challenges faced in coordinating larger-scale evacuations given the closed ports, non-operational airports, and the general state of violence and instability.

He also reflected on the broader context of Haiti’s decline, referencing the assassination of its president three years prior and criticizing the lack of preventative or responsive measures from the U.S. government.

Addressing the situation at the U.S. southern border, Gimenez blamed President Biden for the current predicament, claiming deliberate actions were taken to exacerbate the crisis. He suggested that meaningful changes at the border would only occur if deemed politically necessary by President Biden, highlighting the strain on border patrol agencies and the need for decisive leadership.
