Rep. Reschenthaler: GOP ‘Should Be United

Rep. Guy Reschenthaler, R-Pa., emphasized the importance of Republican unity and directing efforts towards challenging Democrats rather than engaging in internal party disputes ahead of the upcoming general election.

The motion filed by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., to remove House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., stirred controversy within the GOP. However, Reschenthaler stated that he is not focused on Greene’s motion to vacate Johnson from his position, emphasizing the need to maintain focus on broader party goals.

Reschenthaler highlighted the potential negative impact of ousting Johnson just before the general election, suggesting that such internal conflicts could detract from efforts to support former President Donald Trump’s reelection bid. He stressed the importance of leveraging the momentum leading up to the election to challenge Democrats and President Joe Biden on key issues.

According to Reschenthaler, Republicans enjoy significant public support on various policy fronts, including foreign affairs, immigration, border control, crime, and even education. He underscored the need for Republicans to capitalize on this support and present a united front against what he described as the “radical leftists.”

While acknowledging the possibility of discussions with Greene regarding her motion, Reschenthaler reaffirmed his commitment to focusing on Democratic opposition and addressing internal party matters as necessary. He urged fellow Republicans to maintain a unified approach and remain steadfast in their efforts to confront the Democratic agenda.
