Rep. Spartz: GOP ‘Will Hold the Ground on Border Security’

Rep. Victoria Spartz, a Republican from Indiana, emphasized the importance of maintaining strong border security while discussing additional aid for Ukraine during an interview with Newsmax on Friday. As the first native Ukrainian to serve in the U.S. Congress, she expressed concern that negotiations on border security and aid for Ukraine haven’t progressed as desired.

Spartz stressed that Republicans need to convey to Democrats that they are committed to upholding border security because the safety of the nation is paramount. She firmly believes that without protecting the country, there is little hope for others around the world.

Furthermore, Spartz criticized President Joe Biden for what she perceived as a slow response in providing aid to Ukraine. She argued that this delay allowed Russian President Vladimir Putin to make significant advances and fortifications, resulting in a substantial cost in terms of both money and lives for Ukrainians.

Spartz called for a tougher approach but insisted on reaching an agreement on border security. She emphasized the need for President Biden to understand that Republicans are resolute in their commitment to maintaining a secure border.

Regarding policies related to asylum seekers, Spartz acknowledged that President Biden has made some improvements. However, she expressed concerns about his reluctance to tighten parole policies, which she believes have been abused.
