Suffolk Poll: Trump Holds Commanding 16-Point Lead in N.H.

In New Hampshire, former President Donald Trump is maintaining a strong lead over his Republican rivals, according to a recent Suffolk University/NBC 10 Boston/Boston Globe tracking poll, which was unveiled on Wednesday.

Trump, who achieved a record-setting victory in the Iowa caucus earlier this week, is leading the pack with a significant margin. He commands a 50% support among likely Republican primary voters. In contrast, former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley trails behind at 34%, and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is a distant third with just 5% support.

This poll, based on responses from 500 likely Republican primary voters, comes ahead of New Hampshire’s upcoming first-in-the-nation primary scheduled for January 23. As the field of candidates narrows down, the competition intensifies. Notably, conservative entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy suspended his campaign after a disappointing fourth-place finish and threw his support behind Trump.

Haley is determined to mount a robust campaign in New Hampshire, hoping to make headway among the state’s independent voters. She expressed her confidence in her campaign’s prospects, stating, “When you look at how well we’re doing in New Hampshire and in South Carolina and beyond, I can safely say tonight Iowa made this Republican primary a two-person race.”

The Suffolk poll, conducted on January 15-16, bears a margin of error of approximately 4.4 percentage points.
