Trump Says Dems Are True Radicals on Abortion

Shortly after issuing a statement on abortion Monday, advocating for states to have autonomy over the matter, former President Donald Trump reiterated his stance, labeling Democrats as the “radicals on abortion.”

Taking to Truth Social, Trump shared a video featuring former Virginia Governor Ralph Northam, a Democrat, discussing a 2019 bill aimed at loosening restrictions on third-trimester abortions in the state.

Trump highlighted Northam’s remarks from the video: “If a mother is in labor, I can tell you exactly what would happen. The infant would be delivered, the infant would be kept comfortable, the infant would be resuscitated if that’s what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mother.”

In response, Trump wrote, “In other words, the Baby would be executed after birth! ALWAYS REMEMBER – THE DEMOCRATS ARE THE RADICALS ON ABORTION.”

This post was part of a series of abortion-related messages from Trump following his initial policy statement. He clarified his position, emphasizing that with the Supreme Court overturning the federal right to abortion in June 2022, the issue now falls within the purview of individual states. Trump, the presumed Republican presidential candidate, adopted a more moderate stance leading up to the November general election, refraining from advocating for a nationwide ban.

In a Truth Social video, Trump expressed his belief that the Republican Party should champion the sanctity of life and support mothers, fathers, and their babies. He addressed queries about his stance on abortion, underscoring his role in ending Roe v. Wade and emphasizing that Democrats are the ones advocating for extreme positions on abortion, including support for late-term procedures and even post-birth executions.

Trump concluded by asserting that now that abortion legality is determined at the state level, the decision rests with individual states through votes or legislation. He emphasized that whatever the states decide must be respected as the law of the land, thereby underscoring the importance of state autonomy on the issue.
