Trump Targets Hush-Money Judge’s Conflict of Interest With Daughter

On Tuesday morning, former President Donald Trump voiced concerns on Truth Social regarding the perceived bias of Judge Juan Merchan, who is overseeing his case related to payments made to adult film actress Stormy Daniels. Trump is facing charges initiated by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, accused of falsifying business records to hide these payments, which were allegedly recorded as campaign expenses during his 2016 presidential campaign.

Trump criticized Merchan, claiming the judge harbors a bias against him due to his daughter Loren Merchan’s role as a Democratic strategist. He described Merchan as appearing reputable but accused him of harboring a deep-seated animosity towards him, coining it as a severe case of “Trump Derangement Syndrome.”

“His daughter is a high-ranking official at a firm with strong Democratic affiliations, providing services for key figures and entities such as Adam Schiff, the Democratic National Committee, the Senate Majority PAC, and even Joe Biden,” Trump stated.

Trump has entered a plea of not guilty to the charges and refuted the purported affair with Daniels. The trial is scheduled to start on April 15 under Merchan’s gavel.

In his post, Trump also referred to a separate case involving Allen Weisselberg, a former executive at the Trump Organization. Trump claimed that Merchan had coerced Weisselberg into cooperation by threatening severe sentencing, resulting in Weisselberg’s incarceration over minor charges—a situation Trump described as highly atypical.

He concluded his message by asserting his innocence and denouncing the legal action as a baseless and politically motivated “witch hunt.”
