Ukraine Downs 17 of 22 Russia-Launched Drones

Ukrainian air defense systems successfully intercepted and destroyed 17 out of 22 Russian drones in an attack spanning nine Ukrainian regions, officials confirmed following an early Monday incident that sparked a fire in a residential building.

The fire erupted in the central city of Kryvyi Rih, but fortunately, no casualties were reported. Emergency services swiftly evacuated residents and managed to neutralize a drone’s payload before it detonated, according to local authorities.

In the central Kirovohrad region, the attack caused damage to private industrial facilities and nearby residential structures. However, there were no reports of injuries, stated Kirovohrad governor Andriy Raykovych via the Telegram messenger platform.

Additionally, Russia launched seven missiles at targets across Ukraine overnight, as announced by the Ukrainian air force in a statement issued on Telegram.

In a separate incident, an overnight missile strike in the eastern Kharkiv region resulted in damage to a fire station and left one person injured, according to reports from the state emergency service.

Details regarding the fate of the missiles and the remaining drones that evaded destruction are currently unclear.
