Retired Air Force Brig. Gen. Blaine Holt and former CIA operative Bryan Dean Wright expressed concerns about the deteriorating U.S.-Israel relationship amidst Israel’s ongoing military actions against Hamas in Gaza.
Holt, during his appearance on Newsmax’s “American Agenda,” remarked, “The situation has started off badly and is only worsening. Despite the [Biden] administration in D.C. beginning press conferences affirming support for Israel’s right to self-defense, their subsequent criticisms and allegations against Israel only exacerbate the issue. This contradiction is striking, especially compared to the unconditional support expressed for Ukraine. Israel, being a key ally in the region, deserves consistent support. The current approach not only hampers Israel’s efforts but also endangers our forces in the Middle East. The real threat, in my view, is Iran, the primary instigator in these conflicts, yet their actions are often overlooked as we continue to provide them with financial support.”
President Joe Biden, addressing a campaign fundraising event on Tuesday, noted that Israel is gradually losing international backing due to its extensive bombing in Gaza, which has led to numerous Palestinian civilian casualties.
Biden observed, “The international community’s support for Israel is diminishing,” and he suggested that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu should reconsider his government’s hardline stance.
Wright expanded on Holt’s analysis, emphasizing, “The core issue here is not Israel but Hamas’s aggression against Israel, resulting in significant casualties. Israeli intelligence indicates that Hamas militants are using civilians, including children, as human shields, a horrifying tactic. The White House’s increasing criticism of Israel, amidst such a grave conflict, is unwise. This conflict calls for solidarity with Israel, not lending support to those in the U.S. and beyond who side with Hamas.”
He concluded, “Israel’s fight should be seen as our fight, and this is not the moment to offer any form of support to those who align with Hamas.”
