Hunter Admits to $5.1M Shakedown Text, Claims He Was ‘High or Drunk

Hunter Biden did not refute allegations that he solicited a $5.1 million payment from a foreign business client while seated next to his father, Joe Biden. Instead, he attributed the incident to being “high or drunk” when he sent the text message in question.

House Oversight Chair James Comer, R-Ky., speaking on Newsmax’s “Rob Schmitt Tonight,” described Hunter’s response as playing “the drug card” to avoid perjury charges during his testimony before House impeachment investigators.

According to reports from the New York Post and Daily Mail, Hunter admitted during his closed-door testimony that he was intoxicated when he sent the WhatsApp message, which was intended for another recipient, expressing embarrassment over the situation.

The incident in question involves the alleged solicitation of funds from the Chinese state-linked CEFC China Energy, forming the basis of allegations of “foreign influence peddling” against the Biden family. Comer suggests that these actions could implicate President Biden in potentially impeachable offenses.

Despite Hunter’s reported admission, he continues to dismiss the allegations as “MAGA-motivated conspiracies,” denouncing the ongoing investigations into his business dealings as baseless.

The nearly seven-hour closed-door testimony addressed various aspects of Hunter’s business engagements, including his involvement with the Chinese firm CEFC and his position on the board of Ukrainian energy company Burisma, as well as personal matters.

Hunter’s attorney, Abbe Lowell, criticized the focus on his client’s addiction issues during the hearing, suggesting that it detracted from the core issues under investigation.

While House Republicans view the testimony as a step forward in their fact-finding efforts, they acknowledge the existence of contradictions and gaps that require further scrutiny. The next phase involves public hearings to present the findings to Congress and the American people.

The investigation, viewed by Democrats as politically motivated, aims to uncover potential wrongdoing by the Biden family during Joe Biden’s tenure as vice president under President Barack Obama.

Despite resistance from Democratic quarters to end the impeachment inquiry, Republicans remain committed to revealing the truth to the American public, emphasizing the need for transparency regarding the Biden family’s financial dealings.

The ongoing legal challenges faced by Hunter Biden, including charges related to tax fraud and illegal possession of a firearm, add complexity to the situation. However, Hunter has pleaded not guilty to these charges.

Overall, the investigation into the Biden family’s financial affairs continues, with Republicans determined to uncover the truth behind the alleged misconduct.
