PPIC Poll: Rep. Schiff Leads in Senate Primary

According to a recent poll conducted by the Public Policy Institute of California, Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., is leading the state’s Senate primary with 24% of likely voters expressing support for him. Meanwhile, Democratic Rep. Katie Porter and Republican Steve Garvey, a former major league baseball player, are locked in a tight race for second place.

The top two candidates in the primary, regardless of their party affiliation, will advance to the general election. Here’s a breakdown of the poll results:

  • 24% of likely voters support Adam Schiff.
  • Katie Porter garners 19% of support.
  • Steve Garvey follows closely with 18% of likely voters favoring him.
  • Rep. Barbara Lee, a Democrat, receives 10% of support.
  • 21% of respondents favor other candidates.
  • 6% of likely voters remain undecided.

Furthermore, the survey highlights that 64% of Republican likely voters in California express their intention to vote for former President Donald Trump in the GOP presidential primary.

The poll was conducted from February 6th to 13th and included 1,628 California residents. The margin of error for the survey is plus or minus 3.9 percentage points.
