Rep. Carter: Jack Smith Probe Violating Americans’ Privacy

Representative Buddy Carter of Georgia, a member of the Republican Party, expressed strong criticism during an interview on Thursday regarding the actions of special counsel Jack Smith. Carter accused Smith of infringing upon the privacy of a vast number of American citizens in his probe related to ex-President Donald Trump.

Speaking on the show “Wake Up America,” Carter responded to queries about Smith’s subpoena for details linked to Trump’s social media interactions, specifically focusing on users who engaged with Trump before the Capitol disturbance.

Carter remarked, “We are witnessing yet another instance where the Justice Department is being misused by President Biden’s administration. The crux of the matter is the unprecedented invasion of privacy of countless Americans by the Department of Justice, under the influence of the current government.”

He further stated, “This needs to come to an end. This situation paves the way for Jack Smith, the appointed special counsel, who is expected to remain impartial. It’s utterly preposterous that we, as a nation, have to endure such circumstances.”

Carter boldly invited scrutiny, saying, “Include my name as well, Jack Smith. I have interacted with him in the past and continue to do so. So, if my name is to be added to that list, so be it. But make no mistake, this is a blatant breach of our privacy rights, and there is absolutely no place for such actions in the United States.”

The congressman from Georgia also mentioned that Congress plans to draw the attention of the FBI and the Department of Justice through measures affecting their financial resources.
