Some McDonald’s Outlets Back Online After Outage

Several McDonald’s locations have resumed operations following a temporary technology outage that disrupted service for several hours at various outlets worldwide on Friday.

The fast-food giant assured customers that the disruption was not caused by a cybersecurity incident and stated that efforts were underway to resolve the technical issue. Outages were reported in countries such as Japan, the UK, Canada, and Australia earlier in the day.

McDonald’s did not provide details on the exact number of stores affected by the outage.

In Japan, many outlets experienced disruptions, halting both in-person and mobile customer orders. However, McDonald’s Holdings Company Japan confirmed that recovery efforts were underway, and operations were gradually resuming at some stores.

Meanwhile, outlets in the UK and Ireland have fully restored their online services after the outage, while McDonald’s Australia reported that most of its restaurants were now open.

With approximately 40,000 outlets worldwide, including over 14,000 in the United States, McDonald’s is a global presence in the fast-food industry.

Reports suggest that the outage also impacted customers in Hong Kong and New Zealand, prompting complaints on social media platforms about service disruptions.

This incident comes on the heels of recent technical issues faced by Meta-owned platforms Facebook and Instagram, which affected global services for a significant number of users for more than two hours earlier this month.
