Texas AG Paxton: Border Patrol Agents ‘Do Not Like’ Biden Orders

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton expressed his concerns about the actions ordered by the Biden administration in regard to Border Patrol agents and the use of razor wire at the U.S.-Mexico border during an interview with Newsmax on Tuesday.

Paxton highlighted that there is no tension among the Border Patrol agents themselves but rather a dissatisfaction with the directives coming from the Biden administration. He emphasized that the Border Patrol agents are compelled to follow these orders, even though it goes against their preferences.

He stated, “The Border Patrol do not like what they’re being forced to do. They do it because they’re forced by [President] Joe Biden and his administration.” Paxton also noted that since the beginning of Biden’s administration, there has been ongoing litigation over immigration policies and a continued influx of people into the country.

According to Paxton, the Biden administration’s approach has made it easier for criminal cartels to operate, as individuals simply turn themselves in at the border, thus allowing cartels to profit from each person crossing. Additionally, it has increased the risk of crime, potential terrorism, and imposed financial burdens on states.

Despite federal authorization to remove the razor wire at the border, Texas has continued to install it as a deterrent against illegal border crossings. Texas Governor Greg Abbott has been a strong advocate for this approach.

Paxton also commented on the state’s dispute with the federal government over Shelby Park in Eagle Pass, a property owned by the Texas government. The Biden administration has sought access to this area, which Texas has cordoned off, leading to a legal battle.

Paxton asserted, “The federal government has no right to come and take over that property, which is used for recreational purposes, funded by tax dollars in Texas, and use it as a way to increase the number of people crossing the border and potentially increasing crime in the area.” He expressed Texas’s commitment to protecting its property rights and ensuring the safety of its residents.

In summary, Attorney General Paxton raised concerns about the Biden administration’s immigration policies, the impact on Border Patrol agents, and Texas’s efforts to secure its border and protect its property.
